Financial advisers Carterbar are keeping it in the family when it comes to encouraging the next generation of talented young workers.

The company has given a summer-long internship to Stephanie Cox, whose mother Suzanne is the Billingham company’s director of operations and whose aunt Gill Wherritt also works for the company in an administrative role.

Stephanie, aged 20, who is two years through a three-year business management course at Teesside University, said: “I hope to learn a lot about how a company operates on a day to day basis. I will be learning about the kind of decisions that are made.”

Suzanne said: “Carterbar has always been committed to encouraging young talent and this is an excellent chance for Stephanie to learn about business life.”

Arthur Dornan, managing director, said: “It was an easy decision when we heard that Stephanie was seeking some time in the workplace. We have always valued the abilities of young people and hope that she takes the experience with us back into the final year of her course.”

Carterbar is based at Manor Way, on the Belasis Business Park, in Billingham, Teesside, and its services include advice on mortgages, life assurance, income protection, pensions and investments.
